Rangers confirm Daniel Candeias signing from Benfica”

The Scottish giants completed their fifth signing of the season when they announced on Sunday that Portuguese winger Daniel Candeias will be joining on a two-year deal.

Portuguese midfielder Candeias has worked with Caixinha before when the Rangers manager was in charge of Nacional.

"Pedro called me and explained everything about the club and the project".

The former Portugal Under-23 worldwide signed for Benfica in 2014 but never made a first-team appearance for the club, being shipped out on loan to the likes of Nurnberg, Granada, Metz and most recently Alanyaspor in Turkey. Knowing him and hearing what he told me I would have never been able to say no to this project.

'I am a fast player, I have technique but I would prefer other people to judge me, I don't really like to say what kind of player I am.

"I believe he is going to help us to have strong play particularly in the wide areas".

It would see him become the first sale of a busy summer for City, with midfield colleague Jonny Howson also likely to leave due to a desire to move back north, and would follow the release of seven first team players including goalkeeper John Ruddy and defenders Ryan Bennett and Seb Bassong.

And Caixinha admits he is delighted with his business so far after landing his top targets.

He becomes the fourth Portuguese footballer to join Rangers this summer, after Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso joined permanently and Dalcio joined on loan. Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera and Alfredo Morelos are all poised to sign when work permits are secured.

"In my own managerial career, and hopefully there is more to come, I was up to speed with players on the continent because you can't just know the household names", he said, as reported by the Evening Times.
