WhatsApp Now Allows Sharing of All File Types

WhatsApp Now Allows Sharing of All File Types”

WhatsApp is one of the most popular personal messaging apps which has evolved greatly over the past couple of years.

WhatsApp is rumoured to be working on an update for the application that will allow users to send any file regardless of its format.

The messaging platform also updated its "Status" feature that allows users to share images and videos with their contacts on WhatsApp in a secure way recently. Facebook-owned company is also expected to out a new feature that will let you to recall the messages after they've been sent. For the time being, WhatsApp does not support the share of all file types, so you're forced to use third-party apps in some cases.

The Digital News Report discovered that in Malaysia more than 50 per cent of people surveyed said they used WhatsApp for news at least once a week.

There are limitations to this, however, with a file size limit of 128MB on iOS, 100MB on Android, and 64MB on Windows. File sharing feature is already available on WhatsApp and WhatsApp Web, but it supports fewer file types.

The largest chat messenger WhatsApp brought a few interesting features to its platform - pin chats to the homepage and photo filters.

According to WABetaInfo, who first reported about this development, the update is available to a select number of users.

The upgraded document sharing feature on WhatsApp will allow users to share files in a wide array of formats including MP3 files, multiple video formats, along with APK files. This new feature just as the name suggests, will let you apply a filter to a picture, video, or GIF before sending it to your friends.

There's no set date for this, as it may be a server-side update.
