Aramazd Andressian Sr., Father of Missing Boy, Arrested”

35, was arrested in Las Vegas on Friday on suspicion of killing Aramazd Andressian Jr.

In this photo released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, homicide detectives arrest Aramazd Andressian Sr. on suspicion of his son's murder in Las Vegas Friday, June 23, 2017. It was not immediately clear Monday what prompted his re-arrest.

Andressian Jr. was last seen leaving Disneyland with his father in the early morning hours of April 21; Estevez reported the child missing on April 22, after her ex-husband didn't show up with their son for a pre-arranged custody transfer in San Marino.

During interview with the mother, police learned that she divorced his father because he was gone all day, six days a week. The California man had been found unconscious at a South Pasadena park and was suffering from minor injuries. He had "several minor injuries", police said. Investigators said they were concerned Andressian, who has been charged with murder, was about to flee to another country, authorities said Monday.

District Attorney Jackie Lacey said her office filed one count of murder against Aramazd Andressian Sr. last week.

He told police he had taken prescription pills that belonged to someone else and did not know what had happened to his son.

The case has crossed county and state lines, but as of Saturday morning, the boy was still missing. While the police are searching for the missing child, they are also investigating why his father was passed out in the park.

Sheriff's officials and federal agents arrested Andressian because he was "becoming a flight risk", Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell said.

Searchers have fanned out across several counties to try to find the boy, at least twice narrowing their search around a lake area in Santa Barbara County. Andressian Sr.'s gray 2004 BMW sedan was found with its interior and exterior doused with gasoline.

Lt Mendoza told reporters, "We have not come up with any science that his son had been there with him".

Authorities have refused to share specifics about the evidence they have against Andressian Sr., only revealing that he had planned to kill his son as an act of revenge against the boy's mother, Ana Estevez.

Almost a week after the boy was reported missing, Andressian released a statement through his attorney. "After breakfast Aramazd Jr. wanted to go to the park before we were to meet his mother for a custody exchange at 9:00 a.m". Detectives believe a 5-year-old California boy who has been missing for two months was killed by his father after a family trip to Disneyland.

"As time goes on and there's no sighting of a person, of the victim, obviously a case gets a bit stronger, but it just forces us in law enforcement to work harder to look for evidence that would indicate the person is guilty of murder", Lacey said. He said he spoke to his client Thursday and his client contends he has no idea where his son is and is adamant he had nothing to do with his disappearance.

"There are no words to describe how devastated and heartbroken I am", Estevez said through tears, before speaking directly to Aramazd.

"Be fearless, honey. Know that Mama and a lot of people are working hard to bring you home". "I'm counting the days until I see you again".
