Andy Murray should not underestimate Fabio Fognini, says Mark Petchey

Andy Murray should not underestimate Fabio Fognini, says Mark Petchey”

He earned a first break when Brown smacked two forehands into the net followed by a tame double-fault. But I feel a lot more comfortable on the grass courts.

"I was starting to see the shots he was going to play a little bit quicker and that allowed me to get to some of the drop volleys and also come up with some good passing shots".

"I was getting a lot of free points there".

Murray should win, but you never quite know what Brown is capable of.

Murray takes the compliment but it does not soften his approach against the dreadlocked German who stunned Rafa Nadal at The Championships two years ago and says: "I'll need to be ready".

"But in terms of the match, I expect him to be very aggressive". I certainly played better than the first round which was good and I moved pretty well today.

"Certainly, the first two matches have been hard to come up with game plans, because you don't know exactly how the two guys are going to play", said Murray, who will next face shot-making No. 28 seed Fabio Fognini.

Fognini fired 11 aces and didn't drop serve to prevail in one hour, 47 minutes. The most recent match was in this years Rome Masters, a match Fognini won in straight sets.

Britain's biggest hope for a women's champion at Wimbledon worked her way into the third round on Wednesday.

Following his victory over Dustin Brown, defending champion Andy Murray was asked whether he and Johanna Konta could win Wimbledon singles titles in the same year.

Nadal's victory over Young propelled the veteran into a match against Karen Khachanov, who beat Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 3-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3), 7-5.

Seeded winners in the women's second round: No. 1 Angelique Kerber, No. 5 Caroline Wozniacki, No. 7 Svetlana Kuznetsova, No. 9 Agnieszka Radwanska, No. 14 Garbine Muguruza, No. 19 Timea Bacsinszky, No. 24 CoCo Vandeweghe. Obviously on the clay, it's a surface that I've done well the last couple years, but it's not my most natural surface.

By the middle of the second set the Scot was firmly in control. "The first thing I'll look for is his movement as he relies on that so much on court, and as we all know there's still a question mark on the hip". "The last set was very tough. Once he got that break, it just become very hard".

The British number three prevailed 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-3 to set up a third-round meeting with Luxembourg's Gilles Muller. Other hand I won 6-4.

Victoria Azarenka of Belarus is back in the third round as the two-time Wimbledon semifinalist ousted 15th-seeded Elena Vesnina of Russian Federation 6-3, 6-3 in one hour and 38 minutes.

French 12th seed Tsonga had an especially intimate encounter when one flew up his nose and another into his ear. He prefers his forehand but his punched backhand down the line is one of the most consistent around.

"[Reaching] the third round [is] good, I'm happy with that result", he said. I lost a set when the ants came.

He's made this parched patch of fading green his personal playground but Andy Murray insists the magic of Wimbledon will never go away.
. "Sam is playing well - that's not a new story".
