Doc Rivers: With Chris Paul Gone, Clippers Will 'have Ball Movement'”

In moving Paul, the Clippers acquired defensive standout Patrick Beverley and a flurry of players from the Houston Rockets. In his introductory press conference with his new team in L.A., Beverley admitted that he knew the comparisons were going to be made and essentially put an end to them before they began. "You look at my work historically, we're more of a ball movement [and] cut basketball team and that's what we're gonna get back to doing".

It's not as if Paul slowed the game to a crawl every time he had the ball in his hands.

For the last six seasons, Chris Paul has been the bedrock of the Los Angeles Clippers' offense. "So we'll leave it right there".

Making up for Paul's 9.2 assists per contest will be hard from an individual standpoint for either of those players, but as a team, head coach and president of basketball operations Doc Rivers believes that the Clippers will actually share the ball more with CP3 gone. Rivers was instrumental in putting this team together, and sooner or later he'll have to answer for it should the Clippers continue to disappoint in the postseason.

During the 2016-17 regular season, the Clippers were 13th in passes per game, 15th in assists, 23rd in secondary assists and 25th in potential assists.

"I'm excited", added Beverley.
