Chargers' Mike Williams says "everything's good", doesn't need back surgery

Chargers' Mike Williams says

Los Angeles Chargers rookie receiver Mike Williams refuted a report that he's in danger of missing the 2017 season with season-ending back surgery.

"I'm good. Everything good", Williams said, via NFL Network. Williams is, however, likely to start training camp on the physically unable to perform list (PUP).

And according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, back surgery is now off the table for Williams, as he is improving following a second epidural. "I don't who released it, but everything is good".

More news: What Trump's team is saying on pardons

There had been some reports claiming Williams may need to undergo season-ending surgery for the injury he suffered during rookie minicamp, but the first-round pick in this year's draft made sure everyone knew the reports were false.

As a redshirt junior past year - Williams missed most of the 2015 season with a fracture in his neck - the former Clemson star caught 98 passes for 1,361 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was expected to make an instant impact in the team's offense and pair with the talented but oft-injured Keenan Allen at wideout.

Williams told reporters on Saturday that Schefter had some bad information and everything is OK.
