Liverpool refuse to offer more for Naby Keïta”

Rb Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has explained his controversial comments about those advising Liverpool target Naby Keita.

The Mirror claim that Keita has been left angered by these comments and has instructed his representatives to do all they can to force a move this summer, and Liverpool haven't given up hope of getting a deal agreed.

A senior official at Leipzig told Sky Sports News last week that Keita will "100 per cent not be sold in this window" having revealed the club had already rejected a £67m offer from an unnamed side.

Jurgen Klopp had targeted the Guinea worldwide as being someone who would provide drive and dynamism to his midfield and was prepared to back his judgement in the player with the biggest transfer outlay in Liverpool's history.

Liverpool started the summer well, signing Mohamed Salah for £36.9m from Roma, but it has been a frustrating summer in the transfer market for Klopp.

"RB Leipzig is looking forward to the next season together with Naby Keita".

Keita reportedly has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for £48m next summer, so the 22-year-old could still end up at Anfield.

It remains to be seen whether it will be enough to persuade the Bundesliga outfit to sell but it's always hard to keep hold of an unhappy player so I think Liverpool will get a deal agreed in the end.

Rangnick remarked that Keïta had had his head turned by "a whole village in Guinea", as the 22-year-old was supposedly keen for a move away from East German club, and tempted by Liverpool's highly-publicised interest in him.

The question for Klopp and his staff, now, is whether a short-term option such as a year-long loan might be the best bet as they wait for Keita next year, or whether they can not risk missing out twice and instead search for another big addition to provide similar traits.
