Ravens: We've had direct talks with Colin Kaepernick”

The Baltimore Ravens and free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick have had direct communications about signing the former San Francisco 49ers signal caller, according to Ravens team president Dick Cass.

National Football League training camps have started and former 49ers' quarterback Colin Kaepernick still doesn't have a new home. The indications have been that Kaepernick is looking to play and that Baltimore is now weighing the decision of whether or not to bring him on board while starting quarterback Joe Flacco is sidelined with a back injury.

Cass added that Kaepernick wants to play in 2017 and that the Ravens are weighing a decision.

Meanwhile, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said he had been asked by a fan about Kaepernick hurting the organization's brand. After signing Olson, Baltimore coach John Harbaugh indicated the team would still be interested in bringing in Kaepernick, but said it depends on Kaepernick's passion, priorities and "what he wants to do".

"We're sensitive to [what signing Kaepernick might mean]", Bisciotti said.

The Ravens have discussed signing Kaepernick with current players, former linebacker Ray Lewis, fans and sponsors, team officials told Hensley. "So pray for us".

With Flacco out, Ryan Mallett is now taking first-team reps for the Baltimore Ravens, and the team has reportedly worked out Robert Griffin III.
