Deliberations resume in trial of 'Pharma Bro' Martin Shkreli”

The seven-woman, five-man jury started discussing the case among themselves at about 9:40 a.m. Monday.

The 12-member jury began deliberations at a federal court in Brooklyn, New York on Monday, an official in the prosecutor's office told AFP.

That note asked how long they were expected to continue working for the day.

The judge instructed the jury most of Friday afternoon before sending jurors home for the weekend.

"Congrats to Martin Shkreli on being the presumptive White House Communications Director!"

"In for comms director", Shkreli wrote on Facebook.

Shkreli is charged with securities fraud, securities fraud conspiracy and wire fraud conspiracy for orchestrating three inter-related schemes to defraud investors and misappropriate assets.

Shkreli spent most of his day sitting in the federal courthouse cafeteria, hunched over a table.

Before his arrest in 2015 in the securities fraud case, Shkreli became notorious for purchasing the rights to a drug called Daraprim and promptly raising the price by 5,000 percent, from $13.50 to $750 per pill.

The former pharmaceutical executive is accused of looting his own drug company to pay back disgruntled investors in two failed hedge funds he ran.
