Waqar and Wasim to work together for Multan Sultans

Waqar and Wasim to work together for Multan Sultans”

According to agencies the duo will be united in Multan Sultans as Younis will be acting as the franchise's adviser and head coach, while Akram has chose to leave Islamabad United and will take the role of cricket operations director. The signing of the agreement of the event will take place in Karachi in the third week of August.

Wasim made a decision to leave Islamabad United as a mentor after two seasons, that included winning the inaugural Pakistan Super League in 2016 with them. However, their second season suffered after three of their key players - Mohammad Irfan, Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan - were embroiled in a corruption scandal and were suspended.

The Sultans are owned by The Schon Group, a well-established real estate business based in Dubai.

Pakistan bowling legend Wasim Akram has yet slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not paying attention to the domestic cricket structure.

The duo took worldwide cricket by storm in the 1990s, and went on to play 258 internationals together, taking 1,147 wickets between them. Akram took 282 wickets and Younis 277, and are the third-best fast-bowling duo after the pair of Curtley Ambrose-Courtney Walsh and James Anderson-Stuart Broad.

Both Younis and Akram had been on very different career paths.

They shared an acrimonious relationship at times but are reportedly on good terms nowadays, and are set to work closely together in their new roles at Multan.
