Elon Musk's OpenAI bot beats human player in Dota 2 tournament”

The presentation introducing Elon Musk's startup OpenAI bot came during the global esports tournament (TI7).

OpenAI, the non-profit organization co-founded by Elon Musk in 2015 with a mission to build safe AGI, and ensure AGI's benefits are as widely and evenly distributed as possible; has recently developed a bot that could beat the best in the popular cult game Dota 2 in one on one matches under standard tournament rules. "This guy is scary", a shocked Dendi told the huge crowd watching the battle at the event. OpenAI CTO Greg Brockman said it took two weeks to train the bot, and it had previously beaten the world's top 1v1 player and the overall top-ranked player in the world. Although it's an impressive breakthrough, it's important to note this popular strategy game is usually played as a five-versus-five team game - a rather hard environment for bots to handle. Some of the biggest companies, such as Facebook and Google's DeepMind, are racing to conquer games including StarCraft or Montezuma's Revenge.

"League of Legends" (pic) and "Dota 2" have dominated recent PC gaming revenues, says DFC. Players need to gauge when to attack and trick opponents to defeat enemy units. Vastly more complex than traditional board games like chess & Go. OpenAI is now working on a 5 on 5 bot as well.

(Please read this post with the Terminator theme playing in the background). Its performance gets better over time as it continues to play the strategy game. The bot, which is backed by startup OpenAI, learned Dota 2 within a fortnight to beat pro Dota 2 players, said engineers working for the nonprofit. "AI should be too".
