National Football League to relax footwear rules during warmups

The NFL - officially the National Football League, but known in some circles as the No Fun League - isn't merely relaxing its celebration rules during the upcoming season.

A memo sent out by the league to coaches and equipment managers noted that players will be allowed to wear more custom-made cleats during warmups while having more flexibility on the color of cleats worn during games.

For instance, the "Craig Sager" cleats that Odell Beckham Jr wore prior to a game against the Lions past year, which resulted in an $18,000 fine, will be acceptable to wear during the pre-game under the new rule change.

"Now they can wear customized cleats, can I get my fine money back from 2001-2012", Johnson tweeted Tuesday.

A player can wear whatever color they'd like during a game, even if their team doesn't have it in their color scheme. The NFL had already let players wear custom cleats in pregame so the real addition to the rule relates primarily to being allowed to wear "solid black, solid white or a secondary team color' during games according to Rovell". The cleats also must be in good taste without anything offensive or politically motivated.
