Caught on Camera: Distracted Rider Rolls Into Sinkhole

Caught on Camera: Distracted Rider Rolls Into Sinkhole”

Here's a feeling you probably don't know: the road literally opening up before you.

Shortly before he arrived, the street's crosswalk collapsed dramatically into a hole dozens of feet wide - and, still more unfortunate for him, when he did arrive at the fresh abyss, he appears to have been staring at his cellphone.

According to reports, few motorists stopped their vehicles and hurried over to help the man.

The hole measured five meters across, eight meters long, and two meters deep. CGTN says authorities haven't figured out yet what caused the road's collapse.

Sinkholes are created when water dissolves or erodes soluble rock under the surface, such as limestone or gypsum. Recently in the US, a massive sinkhole swallowed up two homes and a boat in Florida and was reported to be growing in size.

Sharing the video on Facebook, the page captioned it: "Massive sinkhole opens up on Guangxi road, oblivious scooter rider falls right in". Firefighters lowered a 20-foot ladder to an occupant in one of the cars, letting her climb out and taking her to the hospital later.

A motorcyclist who wasn't paying attention to the road has inadvertently become the poster-child for distracted driving.

Using a smartphone while riding or driving can have a seriously shocking outcome.
