Thomas Lemar rejected Arsenal move, says Arsene Wenger

Thomas Lemar rejected Arsenal move, says Arsene Wenger”

Despite Manchester City's move for Sanchez, Wenger confirmed the move was "not close" and is confident the Chilean global remains 100% committed to Arsenal.

Thomas Lemar said he was "very happy" to stay at Monaco after scoring twice for France in their 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Holland.

Barcelona made another late move for Arsenal and Liverpool target Thomas Lemar on Spain's deadline day on Friday, but had to backtrack upon hearing Monaco's financial demands.

The Monaco winger was set to join Arsenal after Monaco accepted the Gunner's club-record £92m offer but the deal fell through because it could not be completed in time.

"Your interest is always to perform", he told beIN SPORTS.

"You try to focus on that when you're in a hotel but when I get back I'm sure I will have a chat with the chairman and the manager, but before I left we'd said, "If something happens or it doesn't we'll just get on with it".

"When you can not do it, you keep the player and you make a financial sacrifice because at the end of the day what you want is to have a team that has good potential and top quality".

"That means two things: Alexis Sanchez will go, like Mesut Ozil, in the final year of his contract or you think during the season you will find a way to extend the contract or at the end of the season the players go for free".

Wenger maintained throughout the summer that Sanchez would not depart the Emirates without a suitable replacement taking his place, and the Arsenal boss admitted Lemar turned down the chance to move to Premier League on Thursday.
