Star Wars Episode 9 loses its director in big shake up

Star Wars Episode 9 loses its director in big shake up”

Although that film was a blockbuster, earning a whopping $1.6 billion worldwide, his most recent release The Book of Henry flopped.

Star Wars: Episode IX now has a 3.39 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making it the twelfth most-anticipated movie not based on a comic book movie among ComicBook.com Users and the thirty-third most anticipated upcoming movie overall.

Director Colin Trevorrow has pulled out of the Star Wars: Episode IX due to differing "visions" with Lucasfilm. The news comes six months after Phil Lord and Christopher Miller clashed with producers and were replaced by Ron Howard as the director of the upcoming Han Solo movie.

While our next adventure into a galaxy far, far away is approaching fast, things have seem to taken a unusual direction for Star Wars Episode IX.

Lucasfilm then wished Trevorrow the best and said that they would be "sharing more information about the film soon".

Brad Bird Tomorrowland interview

Although not strictly a parting of the ways over creative differences, Fantastic Four director Josh Trank dropped out of developing a Star Wars spin-off in 2015, citing the enormous pressures of being involved with the franchise. Marvel has let go of directors such as as Patty Jenkins (from "Thor" 2) and Edgar Wright (from "Ant-Man") over creative differences.

Lucasfilm's parent company Disney did not respond to questions about replacement directors being considered for "Star Wars IX".

It is not yet clear who will replace Trevorrow but according to Deadline Rian Johnson is thought to be a strong contender.

In his interview with Empire, Johnson likened Snoke's presence to that of Palpatine's in the Original Trilogy, where audiences only knew of his position, power and danger in those films: "We got the whole story of Palpatine's rise to power in the prequels, but in the original films he's exactly what he needs to be, which is just 'The Emperor".

Without Trevorrow at the helm, Episode IX now is up for grabs.
