General Assembly Republicans Unveil Changes To Their Budget Proposal

Pres. Trump plans to visit 13 states, including IN, to talk about tax reform.

President Donald Trump is poised to host six senators from both parties for a bipartisan working dinner Tuesday, according to multiple people familiar with the plans.

It's unclear how tax reform would directly impact clean up efforts, but Trump has repeatedly said that tax cuts will lead to greater economic growth which could theoretically boost the long-term recovery.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell hinted Monday that Democratic leadership will not be as thrilled with the emergency Hurricane funding, government spending and debt ceiling deal they struck with the president as they initially thought.

Many Democratic lawmakers have said that they would not back a tax bill that cuts taxes for the wealthiest Americans.

Trump held a bipartisan meeting with members of Congress in the Cabinet Room at the White House, where he talked about his tax reform proposal.

Manchin was one of three Democratic senators to not sign a letter from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., setting conditions for tax reform legislation. Trump has fumed at the Republican-led Congress' inability to repeal and replace former President Barack Obama's health care law. Tax reform, tax cuts and immigration reform are now the imperative.

"It's already been a week and a half, and people don't talk about it as much", Trump said regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which he chose to end a little over a week ago.

They also agreed that they can not add to the debt.

"The question is will they have the political courage to look at the principles and the substance of the proposal, and I hope they will".

"More and more we're trying to work things out together, and it's a positive thing and it's good for the Republicans and good for the Democrats", Trump said.

Trump also promised that the individual tax rate would be lower. "So I got my fork and I just got the end, I said, well we're going to find out", he said. The source said Trump ran an "unconventional campaign" with "unconventional" methods - and the "conventional" methods that were used in the first part of the year were not working for him.

65 percent said Trump should reach out more to Democrats.
