Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable Sequel Is Happening

Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable Sequel Is Happening”

M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable sequel, Glass, officially began production this week for its planned January 18, 2019 debut, and it's been reported that - in a rare move - it's being made as a joint production between Universal Pictues and Walt Disney (under their Buena Vista International arm), according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ever since Split became such a huge critical and financial success, fans of the film have been eagerly awaiting each new update that's been released for progress on its sequel. People haven't been this excited for an M. No pressure or anything. While there are certainly cinematic secrets and plenty of twists ahead, Shyamalan has been rather vocal during his pre-production run-up to the new, highly anticipated film.

It looks like production for Glass has just begun.

"Glass" will see Dunn pursuing The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator. In other words, Glass is going to bring together all of the best elements from both Unbreakable and Split for a non-traditional, superhero showdown. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast.

Joining the all-star cast are Unbreakable's Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard, who reprise their roles as Dunn's son and Price's mother, as well as Golden Globe Award victor Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story series). To top it all off, American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson has also joined the cast. What more could be done to make this movie seem more tantalizing at this point?

Talks followed and now Universal is releasing Glass domestically while BVI will release the film internationally. Considering that Split now has a very solid 74 percent on Rotten Tomatoes (his second-highest rated movie) and brought in $276.9 million worldwide working from a budget of just $9 million, it seems like he knows what he's doing. At least we hope.

On his Twitter account, Shyamalan has been marking the time with various posts, counting down the weeks until shooting actually starts on Glass.
