PUBG is getting bombarded with negative Steam reviews”

As PUBG is quickly becoming one of the most popular games globally and has sold more than 10 million copies, the community is calling for developer Bluehole to focus its efforts on its servers and the game's optimization, and the display of sponsored content seems to have triggered a volatile response.

Steam's new histogram feature was introduced in September as a hedge against so-called "review bombings", where a large number of users log negative reviews over a short period of time. The ad itself isn't necessarily the issue, though.

A quick perusal of the reviews shows that many of them are from players upset about the inclusion of ads in the game's main menu in China. The lag caused players to connect to other region's servers, but that only brought lag to those servers too.

As reported by Bloomberg, Chang Byung-gyu - founder of Bluehole Inc, who publishes PUBG - "has had talks with all of the major console companies", specifically highlighting that Bluehole is now "in talks with Sony" about introducing a version for PlayStation following the PC and Xbox releases.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has become the victim of a so-called "review-bomb" on Steam, where players band together to post negative reviews to affect the game's rating on the platform.

You can see the sudden wave of damaging responses in this Steam review chart.

We're crossing our fingers that other regions will not start seeing in-game ads in PUBG, but this report does not bode well. As of writing, today alone, Battlegrounds has received more than 4,000 negative reviews. We will keep you updated when Bluehole responds.
