British minister to be investigated over sexual harassment allegation

British minister to be investigated over sexual harassment allegation”

Ms Edmondson, who stopped working for the MP shortly after the incidents in 2010, disputed Mr Garnier's version of events, telling the newspaper: "He has lied".

The statement about his former secretary's breasts was a reference to a popular BBC show, he said, adding that his conduct could be taken as "dinosaur behavior" but "absolutely does not constitute harassment".

International Trade Minister Mr Garnier is quoted by the Mail on Sunday as saying he does not deny the allegations and would "take it on the chin", suggesting crude comments he made to his secretary had been taken out of context. The next day, he said: 'Come on, let's do it'.

Downing Street has not yet responded to Garnier's case, but a separate report in the Sunday Times claimed Theresa May receives regular briefings on the sexual affairs of members of the government from Conservative whips, who are responsible for enforcing party discipline.

"He stood outside the shop while I did".

Garnier said the toys were purchased when he and Edmondson were out shopping after a Christmas lunch, and that he had told her it was not a good idea to go in the shop.

She added: "Another time in the bar he said to me in the hearing of others, "You are going nowhere, sugar t**s".

The messaging group also claims MPs have indecently pestered members of staff and subjected female workers to sexist nicknames.

Stephen Crabb, a devout Christian who stood for the Conservative leadership previous year, admitted saying "some pretty outrageous things" to the woman after interviewing her for a job, and that the messages "basically amount to unfaithfulness".

"We exchanged messages which talked about sex but none of it was meant seriously", Crabb told the Sunday Telegraph. "I accept any kind of sexual chatter like this is totally wrong and I am sorry for my actions". The married MP resigned from his post as Work and Pensions Secretary past year following reports of a similar incident.

It happened before a separate incident involving messages of a sexual nature sent to a different young woman during the European Union referendum campaign, which led to his resignation from the Cabinet.

Environment Secretary Michael Gove was forced to apologize Saturday after he attempted to joke about Harvey Weinstein during a radio interview.

"He was anxious I was going to go off and work for another MP".
