What works for Virat may not be everyone's cup of tea

What works for Virat may not be everyone's cup of tea”

The legendary cricketer has been awarded the title of, "The Wall", for his unbeatable batting techniques on the pitch.

Virat Kohli became a topic of discussion when Sardesai asked about aggression in the game being redefined. His abilities combined with the aggression make him a lethal skipper who is still to be beaten at home. "I think the whole thing got played out in the media which is very, very unfortunate for Anil and not fair on him at all", said Dravid. I read it in the newspaper and cringe.

Former India captain and current coach of India A and India U-19, Rahul Dravid has spoken his mind on the aggression Indian skipper Virat Kohli gets on the table and the right time when wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni should bid adieu to worldwide cricket. Needling the opposition works for him, it gets the best out of him. But that may not be everyone's cup of tea. When asked about Dhoni's retirement, he gave a humorous yet clever answer, added, "People might have different opinions on when Dhoni should retire".

The coach of the under-19 cricket team said players now have more confidence and fearlessness as there is financial security because of the money coming into the game from the Indian Premier League.

Dravid does not want young kids to blindly copy Kohli's brash and aggressive demeanourWhat's the story?

Dravid also fears the youngsters would get inspired by the Indian captain for all the wrong reasons. "But it was definitely an unfortunate episode, especially to someone like Anil who has been an absolute legend of the game, someone who has done more to win Test matches for India than anybody I know", Dravid said in Bengaluru, as quoted by the "cricbuzz". And on-field macho, rock star image would be of little help to be on a winning streak, he said.

Dravid however, went on to defend Virat later by saying that a bit of lip on the field is good and that Virat's mental preparedness goes perfectly with his style of leadership. The session was titled, "Indian Democracy XI". It's reality. At the end of the day cricketers are simple people.

He also talked about his former teammate Anil Kumble's unceremonious dismissal as the Indian Team Coach and said, "At the end of the day, I don't know the specifics of that particular issue, but it shouldn't have got played out in the way that it did".

The BCCI got their timing wrong when they invited applications for the head coach role just before the start of India's Champions Trophy campaign, thereby fuelling speculations of unrest in the dressing room.

Dravid, who is in-charge of India's U-19 and A teams, acknowledged that player-power has increased, but acknowledged that the Anil Kumble episode was a sad affair for the Indian cricket team.
