Alabama DB Deionte Thompson indicted in Spring Break beach brawl”

Alabama redshirt sophomore DB Deionte Thompson was indicted on an assault charge on Monday stemming from an arrest this spring.

Morris Joseph, Rufus Joseph and Thompson are former West Orange-Stark High School football players and Thompson is now a sophomore at Alabama. "We are not going to make any judgements until that process has been completed".

Thompson has played in all eight games this season for the top-ranked Tide, mainly on special teams.

Josh studied journalism at Seton Hill University. In addition, Villery-Samuel previously told AL.com that he hasn't seen any video that shows Thompson participating in the fight or attacking Frillou.

Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban immediately issued a statement on the matter.

Asked if Thompson is with the team this summer, Saban replied: "Yeah, he's here". Thompson was indicted along with three other men after allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old on March 18.

One woman told Galveston County Sheriff's Office detectives that she saw Frillou get hit by Morris Joseph. The paper also reports that Thompson's friend punched the victim after a racial slur was used, and that Thompson was one of three men who kicked the victim after falling to the ground. All four of the men were first charged and bonded out of jail in April.
