Huddersfield Town v West Bromwich Albion

Van La Parra curled home the only goal just before half-time and, although Christopher Schindler was sent off early in the second period, David Wagner's side produced more heroics to leave the visitors without a win in nine league matches.

"We have shown we are competitive in the Premier League, but it is another game, another chance, a great chance, for us in front of our home supporters and we will do everything to be successful on Saturday against West Brom".

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis admits that he is intimidated by the passion of Huddersfield Town fans ahead of his side's trip to the John Smith's Stadium this weekend.

Van La Parra's swerving, 30-yard effort in the 44th minute put the home side in control.

Town could have fallen behind midway through the first half, though, when Jay Rodriguez latched on to Hal Robson-Kanu's throughball.

Huddersfield had little to show after hogging possession and it was clear it needed something special against dogged opponents and Van La Parra delivered just before the interval.

David Wagner's Town side made life hard for themselves shortly after the restart when German defender Christopher Schindler was sent off for picking up two yellow cards.

West Brom responded with a triple substitution, bringing on forward Salomon Rondon and midfielders Matt Phillips and James McClean but Huddersfield maintained their composure at the back. Van La Parra received the ball on the left before sending an unstoppable strike past Ben Foster and in off the crossbar.

Wiiliams dropped into a five-man defence as Wagner looked to protect his side's lead and West Brom saw more of the ball.

Yet the hosts had to defend with determination in the closing stages of the game and Danish goalkeeper Jonas Lossl pulled off two sharp saves in the second of six added minutes to deny McClean and Phillips.
