Kubica deal delayed by paperwork?

Responding to media reports that a deal had been done, Williams said no driver announcement was imminent.

"Although conversations are ongoing with Kubica, it is still yet to be finally decided who will replace Massa", read a statement from the team.

The veteran Brazilian will retire from the sport after Sunday's race at the Yas Marina circuit, having initially done so 12 months ago before returning to fill the void left by Valtteri Bottas' departure to Mercedes.

Kubica is in the running to replace Massa and has participated in a number of tests with the team recently to gauge his physical abilities following a rally accident in 2011, which caused significant injury to his right-arm.

That is the Williams statement ahead of Robert Kubica driving in the post-Abu Dhabi test for the team.

Whether or not that happens only time will tell, but there will be no announcement at the Abu Dhabi Brand Prix, Williams say.

Sirotkin has taken part in four Friday grand prix practice sessions for Renault this season, having also completed two previous year and one for Sauber in 2014.

A race victor in Canada with BMW-Sauber in 2008, Kubica has plenty of fans and admirers within the sport - including Mercedes' four-times world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Sauber's Pascal Wehrlein, former Toro Rosso racer Daniil Kvyat and Williams reserve driver Paul di Resta are also in contention.
