LeBron James on Colin Kaepernick: 'He's been blackballed out of the NFL'

President Trump doesn't agree with the protests, stating, "Wouldn't you love to see one of these National Football League owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out, he's fired!' You know, some owner is going to do that". "Let's be honest, "Kap" is better than a lot of them". I see all these quarterbacks - first-string, second-team, third-team quarterbacks - that play sometimes when the starter gets hurt or are starters that play.

While Kaepernick has been successful in bringing attention to the issues he's fighting for, it has seemingly come at the cost of his value in the quarterback market, a belief that Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James shares with plenty of Kaepernick supporters. And Muhammad Ali and things of that nature. I watch football every Sunday, every Thursday and every Monday. For him to sacrifice the sport that he plays and to sacrifice the things he's done his whole life because he knew what he believed in, I salute him.

LeBron James said Sunday, in one of his most outspoken interviews in support of Colin Kaepernick yet, that the quarterback has "been blackballed" out of the league by owners. It just feels like he's been blackballed out of the NFL. Believing that his continued unemployment has more to do with the politics surrounding his anthem protest and less to do with the quality of his play, Kaepernick has filed a grievance against the league, alleging collusion. "I salute and respect that".

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and injured Green Bay Packers signal caller Aaron Rodgers have both stated they believe Kaepernick has the ability to continue starting in the NFL. "So, I definitely do not respect that".

In speaking about Kaepernick, LeBron also mentioned how he and some of his Cavs teammates attended Jay-Z's show at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit over the weekend, and discussed the track "The Story of O.J.", which he says should resonate with every black person in the world. "He broke the mold and I always just try to learn from him and try to give back to him and give him inspiration as well".

James and many players around the National Basketball Association wore t-shirts that read "I Can't Breathe" after the 2014 death of Eric Garner, who died in Staten Island after a police officer put him in a choke hold for almost 20 seconds. He was quoting a Notorious B.I.G. lyric.

The NBA's biggest star has some harsh words for the NFL. So when you go through that, you got to understand that. What I say should hit home for a lot of people.
