Anyone can sign up for the next Sea of Thieves test”

You'll also have a chance to shape our shared-world pirate adventure by providing feedback through surveys, and you'll be considered for exclusive access to early versions of the game. Everyone who joins the game's Insider Programme before December 1st is guaranteed an invite to the next play session.

Sea of Thieves has had various forms of alpha tests since last December, but developer Rare only selected a limited number of players each time. Joining the Insider Programme is free, but there are a couple things you must be aware of if you want to be eligible to play Sea of Thieves early. Additionally, an Xbox Live account is required to play on Windows 10, and an Xbox Live Gold membership is needed to play on Xbox One.

The technical alpha has been running for nearly a full year, with a continued limit on the amount of players given access as various features, updates and bug fixes have been implemented into Sea of Theives.

There are a few caveats to registration however; firstly, you'll need to sign an NDA before you can participate in the testing phase, so it's only open to those aged 18 and above. For more details, see the FAQ.

There is no confirmed release date yet, but Sea of Thieves is set to launch sometime next year.
