SodaStream wants to turn your water to wine”

SodaStream has now cashed in on the trend, and has launched a Sparkling Gold "alcoholic concentrate" that will turn water into fizzy wine.

"Ideal for the spontaneous moment of indulgence after work, the amusing girls' evening, or a drink for two with your loved one", one bottle of the dry syrup creates 12 glasses of plonk. The range is made up of zero calorie, preservative free flavors that can be added to sparkling water made with a SodaStream machine. It's so easy, even amusing girls can do it.

Sparkling Gold is the company's first wine-flavored syrup but it is not the company's first foray into alcoholic beverages: a beer concentrate was introduced a year ago in Europe.

Resembling the taste of riesling wine, Sparkling Gold contains 10% ABV when prepared using the recommended mixing ratio of one part concentrate and five parts water.

Each bottle of Sparkling Gold mix is enough for 12 glasses of wine. "Fun and exciting concentrates give more users the opportunity to enjoy and even indulge in festive beverages this holiday season..."

According to an independent market research survey conducted in October, 76 percent of tasters (out of a sample group of 100 people) thought Sparkling Gold was just as good or better than "French champagne brands Moet & Chardon and Veuve Clicquot".

Before you take this whole contraption with you to the Sea of Galilee (this is an Israeli company), it's only being sold online in Germany at present.
