South Korea president says Thaad will not be 'invasive' of China's security”

China's state broadcaster, China Central Television (CCTV), Monday broadcast an interview with ROK President Moon Jae-in, who will pay a state visit to China from December 13 to 16.

Despite Seoul's repeated statements about improving bilateral relations, a full thaw in relations before Seoul's decision to deploy a USA anti-missile system appears some way off.

However, the two countries plan to issue after the summit a joint press release, which would include Moon and Xi's respective views on key issues.

In an interview with China's state-run CCTV on Monday, Moon himself said trust between the two nations has been damaged in recent years.

China has repeatedly reiterated its call on the parties involved to consider Beijing-Moscow plan aimed at settling the conflict, which stipulates the simultaneous halt of the US-South Korean war games and North Korea nuclear tests.

On Tuesday, Seoul's presidential office revealed the results of Thursday's summit meeting will be announced in separate statements to the press, recanting from the previous day's briefing.

"The top priority of my visit to China is placed on recovering mutual trust", he said.

"South Korea will be extremely careful from here on out that the Thaad system is not invasive of China's security".

President Moon Jae-in (right) gives an interview to China's CCTV on Friday at Cheong Wa Dae in Seoul on Friday. "In looking at their position, I can understand the other side...[but] I expect that we will come together and overcome the THAAD issue to begin a new era of development between South Korea and China".

The paper also provided historical context, saying that when the United States dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, in 1945, light radiation and the blast wave caused fires and storm winds that destroyed 81 percent of buildings in the city, killing over 70,000 people. According to South Korean media, Mr Moon will be accompanied by the biggest business entourage ever with more than 220 businesses taking part in the four-day visit. In addition to Xi, Moon is also scheduled to meet during his visit with State Council Premier Li Keqiang, National People's Congress Standing Committee chairman (the equivalent of speaker of parliament) Zhang Dejiang, and Chongqing Communist Party secretary and close Xi associate Chen Min'er.
