Burger King employee credited for helping diabetic woman in drive-thru

Burger King employee credited for helping diabetic woman in drive-thru”

Rebecca Boening said last week, she stopped at a Burger King in Amarillo, Texas when she noticed her blood sugar level had dropped to a unsafe level.

Hardy is married to a man who is also a diabetic, so she knew the importance of getting Boening some food immediately.

Before she could reach the first window, Burger King employee Tina Hardy came running out of the restaurant towards Boening's vehicle.

Boening said in her Facebook post that while she was stumbling through her order, she mentioned that she was diabetic and that she needed some food.

She took the nearest exit and drove to a Burger King drive-through, where 32-year-old Tina Hardy was working the window. Moments later, she saw Hardy running toward her auto with a dish of ice cream. Because her low blood sugar can make it hard to think or act, Boening said she stumbled through her order but was able to let Hardy know she was diabetic and in need of food.

"Hopefully, Tina Hardy will receive the recognition that she truly deserves from the public and from the big bosses at Burger King", Boening wrote.

"I think that the reason why so many people are connecting to this story is that people just don't help people like they used to", Boening said. "She instructed me to park across the driveway so that she could keep an eye on me until I felt better", Boening added. "Sometimes it's hard for diabetics to even get the words out because their blood sugar has dropped so low, so fast!" "I actually could have lost consciousness and if it had gotten worse". Before leaving, she snapped a photo of Hardy and shared it on her Facebook page as a way to thank her - and the response was incredible. In a matter of days, Boening's Facebook post racked up more than 200,000 shares and almost 500,000 likes.

As Boening arrived at the first window of the drive-thru to pay for her order, she was surprised to see a woman running to her vehicle.

Boening, meanwhile, has maintained contact with Hardy, continuing to express her gratitude for her actions that day.
