Man confesses on television to cold case murder

Man confesses on television to cold case murder”

However, they ended up killing him.

They then robbed McAlister and stabbed him to death, leaving his body at the scene of the crime and dumping his vehicle in a Costco parking lot.

The three then left McCalister's body in the wooded area and dumped his auto at a local Costco, according to Hawkins.

Hawkins named two accomplices: siblings Curtis Culver, 45, and Shanna Culver, 46.

According to investigators, one of the Culver siblings confessed to their part in the crime, though they declined to say which one.

Hawkins and the Culvers have since been arrested and are being held in Shasta County jail.

They face charges of burglary and robbery.

In the years since the crime, Hawkins has found religion and credits his belief in God and Christ to have pushed him to do the right thing - although he admits that he understands he can't change what happened.

During the interview with the TV station, Hawkins shed tears and appeared shaken. "Horrible, horrible, absolutely horrible every day", Hawkins said of what it's been like in the years since the murder. "Almost every minute of every day has been a nightmare". "We were teenagers and now I'm 44 and still haven't even had a life, and now probably most likely won't anyways".

Now he wants redemption as a born-again. "It's kinda weird that Frank never even got to have a life and neither did I", he said in the interview, spotted by Uproxx on Thursday.

Immediately prior to giving himself up to authorities, however, Hawkins was confessing to the crime for the first time at Sinclair Broadcasting's KRCR in Redding, California.

Redding Police Captain Eric Wallace said multiple investigators took on the case over the years, trying multiple leads-with little to show for all their work.

Hawkins at one point a year ago had even reached out to McAlister's family with the intention of revealing the truth and asking for forgiveness, however McAlister's father passed away before he could make it out. "By the time I got there, his father had passed away".

Hawkins said he hopes the community can forgive him.

'I'm not running, I just need someone that cares, ' he said.

In a chilling and emotional interview Tuesday, a California man confessed to a murder he committed in 1993 before surrendering to the police.

The station told law enforcement officials that they would not report the story until its journalists could corroborate what Hawkins told them.
