Canadiens' Danault exits game after being hit in head by Chara shot”

A scary scene unfolded in Montreal on Saturday night when Canadiens forward Phillip Danault took a slap shot to the head from the stick of Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara.

Danault remained down for quite some time before ultimately being stretchered off of the Bell Centre ice.

Chara, who has one of the hardest shots in the National Hockey League, looked on in concern as trainers attended to Danault.

The 24-year-old Victoriaville, Que., native, a first round draft pick by Chicago in 2011, is in his third full National Hockey League season.

Danault played in all 82 regular season games for the Canadiens last season, scoring 13 goals and dishing out 27 assists with a plus/minus of +5. At one point it appeared that Danault was going to try to leave the ice under his own power, but a stretcher was brought out as a precaution. Max Pacioretty, Nicolas Deslauriers and Alex Galchenyuk scored for the Canadiens, while the Bruins got goals from Brad Marchand, Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci.
