JAB's Keurig Green Mountain acquires Dr Pepper Snapple”

K-cup maker Keurig Green Mountain Inc will buy soda maker Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc (DPS.N) to form a beverage company with $11 billion in annual revenue. Keurig Dr Pepper brands would include the namesake Dr Pepper soft drinks, 7 Up, Sunkist and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, which includes the Keurig single-serve coffee business. Keurig Dr Pepper, as the new company will be known, will have pro forma 2017 revenue of about US$11 billion and bring together iconic USA brands including Dr Pepper, 7UP, Snapple, A&W, Mott's and Sunkist with leading coffee brand Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. Keurig Dr Pepper will target $600 million in synergies on an annualized basis by 2021.

Dr Pepper Snapple shareholders will also receive $103.75 per share in a special cash dividend. It will be controlled by JAB Holding Company, the family-run investor that took Keurig private in 2015 with a $13.9 billion buyout.

Dr Pepper Snapple was spun off from Cadbury Schweppes in 2008 to become a standalone company. The snacks company Mondelez International will own 13%-14% of the combined firm.
