Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville baffled at CRAZY Liverpool transfer decision

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville baffled at CRAZY Liverpool transfer decision”

Liverpool finally completed the £75m signing of Virgil van Dijk in January - but lost Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge.

He has won three FA Cups but failing to challenge for the Premier League or the Champions League.

Gary Neville has told The Debate, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 2nd February, that he believes Liverpool shouldn't have let Daniel Sturridge leave to join West Bromwich Albion.

"People are saying "Sturridge isn't playing anymore, it's not a big loss".

"But he now needs to perform at the level he has been performing in recent months for the next few years, to get Arsenal the trophies they need and to get them back up into that top four".

But Neville feels that West Brom have done well to get hold of Sturridge, as he could still have been of use to Liverpool over the second half of the campaign. Danny Ings and Solanke [are the only alternatives].

"Were they wise to let him go? It just seemed a insane one for me and a massive risk".

Ings has played only 28 minutes in the Premier League this season following a long-term injury while Solanke is still looking for his first goal after 19 appearances in Klopp's first team since joining from Chelsea in the summer.

Both Sturridge's camp and Pardew are furious at this latest swipe from the Liverpool legend, and the striker is now determined to prove him wrong this season.

He said: "I don't think it's a problem letting Danny Sturridge go". "He was falling down the pecking order".

Sturridge was fully expected to leave the club on loan last month.

"We keep looking at Sturridge and we always go back to the season when Liverpool almost won the league. West Brom are bottom of the league, and that's where he's ended up".

"When he was on form, when he was fit, he was one of the best strikers in England, maybe the best striker in England at that time".
