Pep Guardiola takes pop at Gary Neville after Manchester City substitute debate

Pep Guardiola takes pop at Gary Neville after Manchester City substitute debate”

Leicester travel to face a City side who are 13 points ahead of their nearest rivals - Manchester United - at the top of the Premier League, despite a 1-1 draw with Burnley last time out.

If not for Leicester's haphazard defending in the second half, their attackers might have given City a run for their money.

Leicester City manager Claude Puel: "The most important thing for me is to keep Riyad [Mahrez] and the club and the fans united".

Just days after Sky pundit Gary Neville slammed Pep Guardiola for naming just six substitutes for Saturday's Premier League clash against Burnley, the Manchester City boss has responded in a weird press conference.

While the pre-match headlines were about Mahrez, Sergio Aguero ensured he dominated the post-match ones by netting four second-half goals after Jamie Vardy had cancelled out Raheem Sterling's early opener. Now it's important to look forward, and put this behind us, with the next games coming up'.

But Guardiola will not get carried away yet, adamant they will only be admired in future if they win the titles they deserve.

Pep Guardiola has insisted Manchester City are not to blame for Riyad Mahrez's absence from Leicester City training. "We could take one from [the] second team but they played a game yesterday." he said.

'It was important to have all our best players with us.

Despite the characteristics of Riyad who fits perfectly into the philosophy of the Catalan coach, the strike action by the Algerian makes Guardiola question whether the player is the right choice for the team.

"So far I can only say we're so good".

The England defender has made 26 appearances this season, playing every minute of Premier League action for Leicester. They play more, they play between channels and have more passes.

"We'll have 18 players tomorrow so Gary Neville can be happy", he said when asked to give an injury update. "We have more important games". "It's hard to start and have a certain position against them - but it's a lot of goals conceded, which is a shame".
