Delhi: Seven-year-old's body found stuffed in suitcase, IAS aspirant arrested”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Aslam Khan said, "Shakya, used to be a tenant at the boy's house had helped the family of the minor boy in registering an FIR with the Delhi Police and showed emotional support to the family of the minor boy after he went missing". On intimating the police, Sakya was again called for questioning. "He then wrapped the body in a plastic mat and stuffed it in a blue suitcase before hiding it in his bed box", Khan said.

During interrogation, he told the police that the motive behind the murder was an alleged dispute between him and Ashish's parents, and his need for money.

According to the police, Sakya killed the boy because he was miffed with the family. On the same day, he smothered the child to death.

Sakya wanted to make the ransom call, but not before disposing the body. he found this hard because of the presence of the police after the kidnapping had been reported and CCTV cameras in the neighbourhood, the officer added.

The victim, Ashish, went missing on January 7.

"We found that Shakya had indeed kept nine dead rats, and several bottles of perfumes and deodorants to suppress the foul smell", said a senior police officer.

In a case of revenge, a seven-year-old boy was abducted and murdered by a family friend. A few months ago, he shifted to another house in the same locality and would visit Singh's house occasionally.

Ashish's eight-year-old sister Gunjan had allegedly told the family a week after the incident that "Avadesh chacha had promised Ashish he would buy him a bicycle in the evening [on January 7]". "We believed him", said Ashish's father, Karan Saini.

The DCP quoted Sakya as saying that while he was close to most of the boy's relatives, the child's parents despised him and even abused him in private. Sakya could not dump the body as there was constant police presence in the area since the the boy had disappeared, The Indian Express reported.

An MSc in Physics and a native of Etah, in Uttar Pradesh, Sakya told police that he had appeared for his civil services examination thrice, clearing the preliminary stage on two occasions.
