Romanian director Adina Pintilie holds her Golden Bear for Best Film she was awarded for the movie "Touch Me Not" during the Berlinale film festival on February 24, 2018 in Berlin. She thanked her actors, who appear completely nude in many graphic scenes throughout the film, "for your courage". The Berlin jury was led by German director Tom Tykwer.

Austria's "The Waldheim Waltz" by Ruth Beckermann about the scandal surrounding the Nazi past of former UN Secretary General Kurt Waldheim claimed the best documentary prize.

"This is a film that shows how you can gain ground with nationalism, racism and anti-Semitism", said the director. The discussion about the representation of women, in front of and behind the camera, dominated this year's Berlinale.

Touch Me Not, an experimental, sex-tinged docudrama, was awarded the Golden Bear prize on February 24, making her the second filmmaker from her country to ever win the top spot in Berlin.

Alonso Ruizpalacios and Manuel Alcala won best screenplay for their script to Ruizpalacios' crime drama Museum, which stars Gael Garcia Bernal as a hapless thief who carries out a daring robbery of priceless artifacts from Mexico's National Museum of Anthropology.

Ana Brun of Paraguay won the Silver Bear prize for best actress for her role in "The Heiresses" as a middle-aged lesbian whose partner has to go to prison for their spiralling debts.

A separate Alfred Bauer Prize for work of particular innovation for costume and production design went to "Dovlatov", a biopic about a Russian-Jewish writer grappling with Soviet state censorship in 1970s Saint Petersburg.

American Wes Anderson was named best director Saturday for his animated movie "Isle of Dogs", a journey that begins with a city's dogs being exiled to a vast garbage dump and features the voices of Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum and Scarlett Johansson, among others.

The jury grand prize award went to Polish director Malgorzata Szumowska's "Mug" while "The Heiresses" also picked up a prize for a film that opens up new perspectives.
