Apple will provide in-house medical care for employees”

Apple is following Amazon's lead and opening its own primary health care clinics for employees.

Apple has about 123,000 employees worldwide, including 84,000 in the United States.

The career section lists 10 healthcare professional vacancies from a phlebotomist to nurse practitioner to primary and acute care physicians. While little information is now available, AC Wellness' website boasts that their Network will combine technology, high-quality care, and a unique patient experience to drive engagement and achieve exceptional health outcomes.

According to CNBC, a job listing for AC Wellness posted on Indeed.com describes the network of clinics as "multiple, stunning state-of-the-art medical centers". Last month Amazon, JPMorgan Chase and Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway announced plans for a joint effort to do just that for their combined 840,000 employees. One will be housed within Apple Park headquarters while the other will be due north of it.

Sources said the company will leverage its medical clinics as a way to test out its growing range of health services and products, which it is starting to roll out to consumers at large.

Apparently the centres "offer a unique concierge-like healthcare experience for employees and their dependents".

Cook told attendees that Apple wants to make a "significant contribution" in health care, beyond its fitness-related app offerings.

The first AC Wellness clinics are due to open in the spring. Currently, there are only two clinics included in the venture.

The insiders added that Apple also plans to use the centers as a testing ground for healthcare projects. In addition to traditional roles such as doctors and health coaches, Apple is also on the lookout for "designers" that will help to create a program that promotes healthy behavior among employees.
