Gun range billboard vandalized with "shoot a school kid" message

Gun range billboard vandalized with

A guerrilla art collective has hijacked a Las Vegas billboard advertising a gun range in protest over America's "obsession with gun culture".

An activist art collective called INDECLINE claimed responsibility for the vandalism, the paper reported.

A telephone caller who said he represents the group but refused to give his name provided the statement to The Associated Press.

The message on the billboard was changed from "Shoot a.50 caliber Only $29" to "Shoot a School Kid Only $29". On Thursday morning, the words were found to have been changed to "Shoot a School Kid Only $29" while over the phone number for Battlefield Vegas was also pasted "Defend Lives Reform Laws".

It said the billboard action was to spur debate about "inadequate gun laws that are now placing value on assault weapons over that of human life".

INDECLINE was also behind the naked Donald Trump statues in 2016 that popped up in many cities, including Las Vegas, New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles. A person climbing a ladder appeared to be wearing a wool mask.

The wild protest happened just two weeks after a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland of Florida that killed 17 people on February 14.

In addition, the group vandalized a billboard that was promoting a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor.

The billboard originally advertised a deal to shoot a gun at Battlefield Vegas.

The billboard near Interstate 15 is about 3.5 miles from the Mandalay Bay resort, where a gunman firing assault-style rifles from 32nd-floor windows killed 58 people and injured more than 800 late October 1 in the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history.
