Leicester Explosion: Three Men Arrested On Manslaughter Charges”

THREE MEN HAVE been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter over a deadly fire at a shop in Leicester in the UK's midlands.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue sent six fire engines to the scene, stating that the building had suffered a "pancake collapse" as a result of the incident, which occurred just after 7pm on Sunday.

Mary Rajoobeer, 46, and her two sons, Shane, 18, and Sean, 17, were named by police on Tuesday as missing following the explosion, as was Leah Beth Reek, 18, who was Shane's girlfriend.

Superintendent Shane O'Neill, of Leicestershire Police, said: "There are now five confirmed fatalities and a number of people still undergoing treatment in hospital".

In a statement the force said: "Police investigating the cause of the explosion and fire in Leicester on Sunday evening have arrested three men on suspicion of manslaughter".

A search and recovery operation was continuing on Wednesday, however police have said they do not expect to find any survivors.

Human remains from five people were recovered from the wreckage yesterday, but given the devastation at the site, officers said it may take "considerable time" before they are formally identified. Scotty's father, Jose Ragoobeer, was at work at the time of the blast.

Ms Ragoobeer's other son was injured in the explosion.

Viktorija Ljevleva, 22, who is thought to have been working at the supermarket, was also reported missing.

Five others remain in hospital with one victim in a critical condition.

The Loros hospice where Reek volunteered praised her "passion ... bubbly personality and sense of humour". "She will be greatly missed by all of her colleagues at Loros".

The spokesperson did reiterate, however, that there remains "no evidence" that the explosion was in any way terror-related.
