Chiefs sign P Colquitt to three-year deal”

Dustin Colquitt has been a special teams fixture for the Kansas City Chiefs since 2005 when they selected him in the third round of the NFL Draft.

The 13-year player has been to a pair of Pro Bowls and is now the longest tenured Chief on their roster.

Per CAA Football, the contract is worth $7.5 million and could increase to $9 million with incentives. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said Wednesday he hoped to finalize "something soon" with Colquitt.

Colquitt is first in franchise history in punts, longest punt (81 yards in 2007), punting yards, punting average (44.86), net yard average (39.68), and punts downed inside the 20. That placed him 18th in the NFL.

Colquitt has spent 13 seasons with the Chiefs, missing only two games during his tenure.

Colquitt made the Pro Bowl in 2016 and 2012. With the recent decision not to re-sign long-time middle linebacker, Derrick Johnson, Colquitt is officially the longest-tenured Chief. Eric Berry, Justin Houston, Jarvis Jenkins and Anthony Sherman are 29.
