Crews responding to explosion at plant in northeast Texas”

The fire was reported about 9:45 a.m at Tri-Chem Industries, Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds said in a telephone interview.

Crews are responding to an explosion in Hood County that has left one person injured and another missing, ABC affiliate WFAA reports.

The chemical plant and a nearby lumber yard have been evacuated. One person was reportedly burned and another is unaccounted for. In all, there are about 12 people who work at the plant.

Cresson Mayor Bob Cornett said the liquid chemical plant manufactures products like soap and acid.

First-responders are letting the fire burn itself out.

Cresson is located 25 miles southwest of Fort Worth. Authorities are advising the public to go to the hospital if they came into contact with smoke from the explosion.

It happened Thursday morning at a plant at 2600 North Cresson Highway (State Highway 171), just northwest of Cresson.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
