Video of Pak PM Abbasi reportedly being frisked at airport goes viral

Video of Pak PM Abbasi reportedly being frisked at airport goes viral”

Pakistan's prime minister was subjected to an airport security check during a recent visit to the United States, enraging local media and fueling speculation that the Trump administration is preparing sanctions against Islamabad.

Abbasi also met with Vice President Mike Pence during his USA visit. The video in question showed Abbasi carrying a coat in one hand and a suitcase in the other as he walked towards security check area.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Abbasi, dressed in a maroon polo t-shirt and black pants can be seen putting on his belt after clearing the security check. As such, the frisking of Pakistani PM has infuriated many.

The video, that has gone viral on social media, shows Abbasi dressed in a maroon polo tee shirt and black pants. "He is representing the country... there are certain protocols".

Sami Ibrahim also recalled India's appropriate reaction to similar security checks of their former President APJ Abdul Kalam and cine artist Shahrukh Khan at U.S. airports.

The Pakistani media lambasted the U.S. for the treatment towards Abbasi, calling it a "disrespect" towards the PM for a nuclear-armed nation.

The development comes amid the reports of Donald Trump administration looking into a range of new options, including imposing visa bans to incrementally pressure Pakistan into acting against militants. Presidents, Prime Ministers and Monarchs are always in the no-frisking list, not just in the U.S. but in most countries of the world.

"He should be ashamed for saying he went on a private visit". He is the prime minister... he has a diplomatic passport ...there is no such thing as a private visit. The report further said that Abbasi was previously spotted travelling alone to a railway station during his visit to Britain.

The US had on March 22 put sanctions on seven Pakistani companies, placing them on its "Entity List", making it harder for them to operate in the country over alleged links to the nuclear trade.
