White House: President 'doesn't believe' claims made in '60 Minutes' interview”

Stormy Daniels, an adult film star and director whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is interviewed by Anderson Cooper of CBS News' "60 Minutes" program in early March 2018, in a still image from video provided March 25, 2018.

"Mr. Cohen paid the $130,000, but the reason is to protect business, protect reputation, and to protect family, and you can not speculate that it was to elect somebody President of the United States", said David Schwartz. She also said that out of the multiple sexual encounters she had with the business magnate, only one was carried out "with her consent".

She also said she had accepted 130,000 USA dollars in "hush money" from Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen, shortly before the 2016 election. "It'd be a shame if something happened to her mom.' And then he was gone".

Late Sunday, Cohen's attorney, Brent Blakely, sent a cease and desist letter to Daniels and her attorney, Michael Avenatti, and demanded she apologize and refrain from making "false and defamatory statements" about Cohen in the future.

"Why should we in this room - and more importantly, the American people - trust anything this administration is telling them?" said Zeke Miller of The Associated Press. She said she was not coerced to have sex and "I was not a victim".

At Monday's press briefing, White House spokesman Raj Shah said that Trump doesn't believe that any of the claims "that Ms. Daniels made last night in the interview are accurate".

Daniels sued Trump on March 6, saying he never signed an agreement for her to keep quiet about an "intimate" relationship between them in 2006. The White House on Monday hit back at her saying that her entire TV interview is "absolutely inaccurate and incoherent".

Trump married Melania Trump in 2005.

On "60 Minutes", when asked why she signed that statement if she knew it was false, Daniels said she felt intimidated.

She said she ordered him to drop his trousers and, in a playful manner, "I just gave him a couple swats".

Trump has never spoken publicly about the allegations and has repeatedly ignored questions from reporters about the issue, which has dogged the White House for months. She said the incident made her fearful for years and that she thought she was doing the right thing when she accepted $130,000 from Trump attorney Cohen to stay quiet. At one point she said he told her: "Wow, you - you are special".

The interview gave the show its biggest audience in a decade, with slightly more than 22 million viewers tuning in, according to Nielsen company estimates.

Trump has yet to comment directly on Daniels' story. Talking about her steamy relationship with Trump, she claimed that the affair started in 2006 at Lake Tahoe and continued till 2007.

McDougal has filed suit in Los Angeles seeking to invalidate a confidentiality agreement with American Media Inc., the company that owns the supermarket tabloid National Enquirer. It paid her $150,000 during the 2016 presidential election.
