Bayern will 'wait and see' on James deal”

The Colombia global has grown into his playmaker role at the Allianz Arena since arriving on an initial two-year loan move last July, playing a direct part in five goals in his last six outings.

Liverpool have been tipped to sign Rodriguez from Real Madrid with the player now in fine fettle for Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has spoken to the club's television channel about James Rodríguez's situation, which has been the subject of much speculation over the past few weeks.

Bayern have an option to buy the Colombia global permanently at the end of the loan deal on June 30, 2019.

Speaking to Bayern TV, Rummenigge said: "It was Ancelotti's idea to sign him and I think that was a very good idea".

"He has developed very well, particularly under Heynckes".

"He has become a very important player for us, technically strong with a wonderful shot and a great free-kick like we saw recently in Leverkusen".

Bayern's decision to wait and see what happens may prompt the Premier League duo to renew their interest in the player, with Mourinho in particular known to be a huge admirer of the playmaker's talents.

What the future holds for James: "The cards are on the table: he's with us on loan for two years. But we will go with tranquillity and at the right time, which does not have to be soon, it does not have to be in 2018, we will make the decision".

But Jupp Heynckes has shown more faith in Rodriguez, and the playmaker has now clocked up 25 appearances in all competitions this season.
