'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' Announces Sequel Release Date!”

During the tail end of Sony's film slate presentation at CinemaCon, chairman Tom Rothman announced the release date for the next Jumanji installment for December 2019. "Don't rush to give all those screens to "Star Wars"," Rothman quipped. The film starred Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Bobby Cannavale, Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser'Darius Blain and Morgan Turner.

The sequel to Welcome to the Jungle is already in development with writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner taking on the script, but no director is now attached. It went on to become one of the most successful films in Sony's history, with a business of over Dollars 956 million at the box office globally. Jake Kasdan directed the surprise blockbuster although it's unclear if he'll be returning for the sequel. The film was #1 for four weekends, including three in a row and was the first December wide release to be #1 on a February weekend since Titanic in 1998.
