Four nabbed for selling leaked WAEC answers

Four nabbed for selling leaked WAEC answers”

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a self-acclaimed pastor operating a fake West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) centre at 3, Oseni Adekogbe Street, Igbogbo, Ikorodu.

Parading the suspect, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal advised parents to monitor their wards preparing for examination instead of indulging them in examination malpractices.

Four persons have been arrested by the police for being in possession of leaked WAEC examination questions and selling answers to candidates using various online platforms in Edo, Osun and Ondo states.

Items recovered from the suspect, Adeniyi Joshua of El-Supreme Church, include WAEC question papers and answer sheets, suspected to be forged.

"I released these questions and answers to the students on the platform".

The suspects, Samuel Kayode, 28, Adebayo Ifeoluwa, 17, Alayande Ahmed, 16, and Elusode Festus, 20, were arrested in Ondo, Edo and Osun States, while their accomplices, said to be in Ghana, were being trailed.

He links up with those who provide him with prepared answers of leaked 2018 examination questions.

He said: "Investigations revealed that these atrocities were committed through the following websites: - 07069198008; - 08162563540; - 08132876664; - 08060987041 and - 09039642826".

Kayode's words: "I got a part-time teaching job when I couldn't secure a government teaching job after graduating for NCE and couldn't settle for the little salary I'm being paid by my employers, so I chose to help myself with what I have been doing as a tutorial teacher by helping lazy students source for WASSCE examination question and answer via some online platforms that deal in the illegal business".

It was gathered that the pastor has been in the habit of luring unsuspecting prospective WAEC candidate to register the exams in his school for one hundred percent guarantee success and since then thousands of candidates have been thronging into his school to register. The four suspects confessed and admitted to have committed the crime. "Evidence of this was established through their mobile phones".

Effort he said, was still in progress to get owners of the websites and also to find out how the question papers got out of WAEC office, adding that the command would liaise with the WAEC to unearth the insider connivance.

"It is important for WAEC to look into this devastating development and take necessary corrective measures to prevent such leakages in future".

One of them, Samuel Ola, the Physics and Mathematics teacher said, "I saw a website on the internet through which I contacted one Danladi, who sold nine questions to me for N9000".

He said: "Sometime this year, just before the on-going WASSCE examination, I belong to a sports betting WhatsApp group where we forecast for games". They only gave me N200 recharge card for each subject. I started teaching two years ago. "I am a Physics and Mathematics teacher".

"He created a Whatsapp group called Waecvip where he shares and sells leaked question and answers on request".

"I then retail the answers I have bought from Mr Dan to candidate customers who I coordinate carefully on a WhatsApp platform named "WAEC VIP" where candidates wait patiently to receive the answers to the question after sending to me a #400 recharge cards of any network".
