Trump announces US will exit nuclear accord with Iran”

President Trump announced today that he is pulling the United States out of the Iran nuclear deal-the Joint Cooperative Plan of Action (JCPOA)-and reinstating USA economic sanctions against Iran.

Mrs May spoke by telephone with France's President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel after Trump made his statement and the United States said it meant to reimpose sanctions on Iran.

"The ministry said it was open to further cooperation with other Iran deal members and would continue to actively develop bilateral ties with Tehran".

Another 42 percent said the United States should remain in the deal, and the remaining 28 percent said they "don't know".

The fate of the Iran nuclear deal hangs in the balance, as the world waits to hear what US President Donald Trump plans to do about the agreement.

Blinken said ending the deal gives "hardliners in Iran an excuse to restart their pursuit of nuclear weapons, but without the united global coalition to oppose them or inspectors on the ground to expose them".

The administration wants an end to Iran's "destabilizing influence" on the Middle East, its support of terror groups like Hezbollah and the Houthis in Yemen, and to limit its ballistic missile program.

Bishara said Trump did not only "alienate his European allies" but his announcement was "a call for an all-out confrontation with Iran" and "a total embrace of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's and of Israel's logic for the Middle East". He claimed the White House has "conclusive" evidence of Iran violating the spirit, and possibly letter, of the deal by continuing weapons development.

A spokesman for Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan also said that the decision will cause instability and new conflicts.

The deal was agreed between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the US, UK, France, China and Russian Federation - plus Germany.

France will continue to push for a broader deal with Iran, "whether the United States participates or not", French Defense Minister Florence Parly said Tuesday, noting the Iranians are "respecting" the agreement.

Iran's state-run news agency is quoting an anonymous official saying President Hassan Rouhani (hah-SAHN' roh-HAH'-nee) will give a televised address after President Donald Trump announces his intention to pull America out of the Iran nuclear deal. Former Secretary of State John Kerry, who was one of the architects of the Iran nuclear deal under President Obama, has been speaking out about the deal and reportedly met with foreign leaders in recent weeks to discuss how to protect it.

The ultimate impact will be determined by how Iran's major customers - China, the European Union, India and South Korea - respond to Trump's sanctions.

Trump and the United States also came under fire from Iran's first vice-president, Eshaq Jahangiri, a popular reformist politician who has been suggested as a possible presidential contender in Iran's 2021 election.

"Whatever extraneous factor that affects supply or demand, will no doubt send the market into disequilibrium, which is not in the interest of producers, or the interest of consumers", he said when asked about the consequences of ditching the Iran nuclear agreement. He also wanted more rigorous nuclear inspections and an extension of restrictions on Iranian enrichment and reprocessing rather than letting them phase out after about a decade. "Issues not directly related to the JCPOA should be addressed without prejudice to preserving the agreement and its accomplishments", Mr. Guterres said.

European Council President Donald Tusk on Tuesday evening said U.S. President Donald Trump's policies "will meet a united European approach" in reaction to the latter's announcement of a U.S. withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.

"I am particularly anxious by the announcement tonight of new sanctions", Mr. Mogherini said.
