Kristen Stewart flouts footwear ban at Cannes Film Festival”

Well, this year Kristen put her money where her mouth is and literally kicked off her heels in front of the world's media.

The 28-year-old star was heading into the premiere of Spike Lee's new film "BlacKkKlansman" when she ditched her black heels.

Kristen Stewart walked barefoot on the red carpet.

CANNES-The issue of high heels at Cannes has been a spiky one in recent years.

Sugi star "Twilight" Kristen Stewart continues to amaze the behavior at the Cannes film festival.

She posed on the red carpet for the Blackkklansman screening in a stylish pair of black Christian Louboutin stilettos and once her photos were done, she chose to take her heels off and walk barefooted on the red carpet.

In an effort to put an end to the age-old sexist tradition, the member of the jury, Kristen has begun speaking out against the dress code and the sexist fashion expectations at the event.

"It has become really obvious that if [a man and I] were walking the red carpet together and someone stopped me and said, 'Excuse me, young lady, you're not wearing heels". She went on to say, "Things have to change immediately". You can not come in.' Then [I'm going to say], 'Neither is my friend. I feel like you can't ask people that any more - it's a given.

The festival declined to comment on the report at the time but confirmed women were required to wear high-heels to red carpet screenings although this has since been disputed by festival director Thierry Fremaux. "I understand the whole theme with black ties, but we need to allow women to walk without heels". You have to wear a dress. But now, it's awesome. People get very upset at you if you, like, don't wear heels or something-whatever.

"There's definitely a distinct dress code, right?" she told the Hollywood Reporter. "You can't do that anymore".
