The savage beauty of Hillary’s tweet on Comey’s email use

The savage beauty of Hillary’s tweet on Comey’s email use”

The watchdog criticised Mr Comey for his unusual news conference in July 2016 at which he disclosed his recommendation against bringing charges.

"We found it extraordinary that, in advance of two such consequential decisions, the Federal Bureau of Investigation director decided that the best course of conduct was to not speak directly and substantively with the Attorney-General about how best to navigate those decisions".

In messages exchanged over the FBI's internal system, agents and attorneys involved in the FBI's 2016 investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server insulted President Donald Trump's supporters and partially blamed themselves for potentially swaying the election with their probe.

Comey made an appearance at the MSP Airport Thursday.

Comey was conducting the probe into the correspondence of presidential candidate Hilary Clinton, who used a private mail server when she was Secretary of State from 2009-2013.

"This report confirms what we have known for a long time - that the FBI inappropriately applied a double standard to the Clinton and Trump investigations which hurt her and helped elect him", Mr Podesta told Reuters. You know, considering it was Comey who issued a statement in October 2016 - just 11 days before the election - saying the FBI was reopening its investigation into Clinton's email use. In a New York Times opinion piece released after the report, Comey said he disagreed with some conclusions but respected the watchdog's work.

Kaufman said he sees the anti-Trump text as another indication that some cards are stacked against the president.

"But my emails", Clinton tweeted, in an epic clapback to Comey and the conservatives who teased "but her emails" over and over again.

Horowitz, a former federal prosecutor, announced in March that he is probing allegations of government surveillance abuse, in light of memos released on Capitol Hill about FBI and DOJ efforts to obtain FISA warrants to surveil Trump campaign adviser Carter Page as part of its Russian Federation investigation. Comey was "insubordinate" for failing to clear his public remarks about the case with the Justice Department. The inquiry expanded to touch on an array of politically sensitive decisions by officials including Comey and former Attorney-General Loretta Lynch.

In light of the fact that the Inspector General's report ignored the questions about anti-Clinton bias in the FBI's NY field office and questions about whether Comey's actions were driven by fears of leaks from that same office, this seems highly relevant.

The inspector general, however, noted that he did not find Comey's actions to be motivated by any political leanings, Bloomberg reported.

While Page and Strzok ripped Trump before his November election victory, the pair "told us that these additional text messages were relevant because they reflected that Trump was not singled out by them for criticism or criticized for partisan reasons", says the report.

Late on Thursday, Hillary Clinton chimed in with a tweet that was rich with its own irony.
