Date and Location Set for President Trump to Meet Russia's Putin”

Some Trump critics in Washington has expressed concern that, in his eagerness to come back from a summit with a "deal", Trump might concede too much to Putin without getting much in return.

Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters following the meetings that Russia and the United States had discussed setting up an in-person meeting between the two heads of state "for a long time" and had finally agreed upon a time and place.

He said Moscow and Washington would announce the time and place of the summit on Thursday. "We will presumably announce that tomorrow together with our USA counterparts", Ushakov said.

"It was stated clearly by our side that the Russian state hasn't interfered with the US domestic politics, moreover hasn't interfered in the 2016 election", Ushakov said.

The two men last met in November on the sidelines of an Asia-Pacific summit in Vietnam.

The date and location of the meeting are to be announced on Thursday, but Trump said it's likely to happen soon after he attends a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels next month.

"I think the fact of the summit itself is a deliverable", Bolton said after talks with Putin and other Russian officials.

"You know, whether you like it or not, and it may not be politically correct, but we have a world to run", Trump said.

During the open part of his talks with Mr Putin, he reportedly said he was hoping to hear how Russian Federation "handled the World Cup so successfully".

Trump first brought up his proposal during the annual G7 summit in Canada earlier this month, also reportedly suggesting Crimea was part of Russia because the people there spoke Russian.

Vienna, Austria has been mentioned as a possible location for such a meeting, but no details have been made public.

And he said he was sure that when Trump meets Putin "he will make clear that meddling in our elections is completely unacceptable".

Asked if Helsinki was being considered, Peskov said, "We are not ready to say anything about this yet".

The press conference was held shortly after officials in the US and Russian Federation announced that Trump and Putin had decided on a date and location for a future meeting.

Mr Putin insisted Moscow had never sought confrontation and that, in his view, the poor state of relations was a result of fierce political confrontation inside the USA itself.

Trump on Wednesday listed Syria and Ukraine among the many subjects he said they would discuss at the summit.
