Nike's Colin Kaepernick "Just Do It" ad just dropped early

Nike's Colin Kaepernick

Kaepernick, who used to play for the San Francisco 49ers, hasn't played football since 2016 when his protest of racial inequality sparked a nationwide conversation.

Kaepernick narrates the full spot but first physically appears midway through.

"If you're born a refugee, don't let it stop you from playing soccer for the national team at age 16", Kaepernick says.

The company's stock price has dipped since some customers burned and defaced their Nike shoes in protest over the Kaepernick ad, but overall the shares are up almost 28 percent this year.

Carlson then asked Portnoy how Nike is helping the cause of civil rights if it's trying to sell expensive shoes to people who can't afford them.

WATCH: Nike calls Kaepernick inspirational, but as Eric Sorensen reports, it's ignited a firestorm.

On Monday, Nike released a promotional image for their new Kaepernick-inspired campaign which featured a black and white portrait of the player superimposed with the slogan "Believe in something".

The deal spurred debate among fans, with some urging a boycott of the Beaverton, Oregon-based company and others burning their Nike clothing. His case hinges on whether owners worked together rather than decided individually to not sign Kaepernick.

(AAP)LeBron James has said that he stands for 'anybody who believes in change'.

Bloomberg noted that Tuesday was Nike's biggest one-day drop since April, but also pointed out that shares in Adidas ― Nike's biggest competitor ― dropped as well.

The NFL and Nike recently extended their partnership through 2028.

"Nike is getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts", Trump tweeted.

"I feel like I've lived through this before, just being close to my older brother and seeing him go through it when he was with the 49ers", Justin Reid said. In October 2017, the college revised its contracts for competition in all sports, adding a stipulation all participating players and coaches show respect for the American flag and national anthem.

Which brings us to the Nike ad in question.
